OS is Windows Server 2003
I am not too sure about the hardware as on that specific application, I do not handle that part.
Software is IIS 6, Microsoft .NET Framework and Level Extreme .NET Framework.
Backend is SQL Server 2008 R2.
But, a big performance and something that allowed to extend the duration timeframe on the existing server, without upgrading it or to scale the application across multiple servers was when I implemented the load of specific data dictionary tables into memory by the use of a name object collection base. With that, I save about 1 to 2 millions SQL Server hits per day, and it boosted the average response time by 0.2 to 0.1 second. I will have an article on that soon. It's been a while since the last time I have written one so that would be a good occasion to talk about that.
