However I made a change today where in program1 I use the table1 from the folder containing program2, update a field and then use the table to release it. However when further processing was done in program1 it continued to update fields in the folder for program2. any ideas?

We had this once, and then we found out that the client had the same folder structure as we had, and the data environment saved the full path to that folder. So even when we pointed to h:\Production\Data at the client, it found the folder h:\Testing\Data, because we used the same path in our development environment. Maybe something to look at.
