I know. China is worried Taiwan is going to overrun them, that is why they have thousands of missiles pointed across the Straits, and keep adding to their blue-water navy. Maybe that is to help evacuate the mainland when they are overrun? They certainly haven't taken the position that they would do anything to Taiwan.

They are worried about the Philippines and Japan too. That is why their navy keeps expanding and pushing into their territorial waters - to keep from being overrun by the Philippines.

They do, of course, need the expanded navy to help protect their poor picked-upon buddy North Korea.
