Well, if I recall correctly, this thread started because someone has gotten duplicates. It was mentioned earlier that even the help file warns that this may be a possibility. Here's the quote from it (italics are mine):

SYS(3) <I>may</I> return a non-unique name when issued successionally on a fast computer. Use SUBSTR(SYS(2015), 3, 10) to create unique, legal eight character file name.
