Have you contacted anyone who developed Mere Mortals directly?
Does it always fail at the exact same spot?
Or is it at the exact same spot at the exact same time (X minutes into processing)?

Someone mentioned handles being consumed. Is there a place where you can stop all processing, close everything, and restart? Or spawn off particular jobs or portions of jobs to remote processes which you launch to carry out that one portion of the workload? That would tell you if it's a resources or handles issues because as those processes are launched and terminated, all resources and handles will be released.
