>As the title says and my contract is running out - am I too old to go job hunting ? ( this is a serious question but feel free to wax lyrical )
Had you asked me that question 30 years ago I might of answered differently - but today I say no problem. I don't know about the UK - but over here in the USA it seems people are working longer than they used too and employers seem to be more accepting of people in their 60's than they were just 25 or 30 years ago.
I had a gig in Dallas, TX about 10 years ago - one of the guys I worked with was 63 and had just been hired - and it was his FIRST programming job..haha. He had been many things before (an accountant was the most recent) and decided to buy a few books and video tapes and learned how to do VFP. I was impressed with my employer for hiring the guy - they wanted an entry-level programmer and hit fit the bill perfectly - thankfully his age did not scare them one bit.
