I'm not sure they could do that even for a low-end unit:
- low-end PCIe SSD 240GB class ~$500
- low-end 4-core Xeon CPU ~$350
Current 8-core E5 Xeon CPUs are ~$2K and up; the 12-core future variants Apple is alluding to won't be any cheaper.
