>>>I have a multi-user VFP 6 desktop app with the VFP database on a share on the LAN. When the share was on Win Server 2003 it took about 5 seconds to startup, now that we have moved to Win Server 2008 it takes at least 45 secs to startup. Any ideas?

then you are running under enabled oplocks and this behaviour/time lag is necessary as the server cannot cache for multiple WS. Usually points to queries not optimized, which is somewhat hidden via the oplock caching. Read up on SMB2 problems - you probably are primed for them if you did not disable -, oplocks and fox optimization.
