A born again Christian will discriminate using the (1) definition, bringing into their lives, and into their teachings, and into their witness, those things which God has commanded them to do, to their best of their ability, being led by the Holy Spirit (who leads them continually only to truth). The individual might still make mistakes, but it is not a lifestyle choice, but rather the result of sinful draws and pulls. The person will repent, pick themselves up, and continue on. I know this from the amount of dirt and dust on my knees and backside. :-)
