My dad was a U.S. Marine and joined in 1937 at age 17. The last battle of WWII he was in was Okinawa. He is buried at Fort Rosecrans, just a few miles south of Camp Pendleton. War is not good for anyone. It kills and disrupts lives. I know my dad would not be happy with the news below, but he had his reasons. Three men including my dad survived from his company.
The local news stated that Japan was invading California, as a joke.
“Japan is sending three warships, about 1,000 service members and about four combat helicopters to the so-called Dawn Blitz exercise, Inoue said. Forces from New Zealand and Canada also will take part.
The troops will practice an amphibious assault on San Clemente Island, a naval training ground off San Diego's coast, and also conduct a mock beach invasion at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton”.
