My fear for integrity is not based on any real knowledge. But, for maximum speed, it's a fire and forget write - you just have to assume it's successful.
You can do it asynchronously (even specifying that the write must be replicated across x number of servers before being confirmed) and, to be fair, that doesn't seem to have a dramatic effect on performance.
