Ten or more years ago I occasionally used .LockScreen to work around display issues. That was back when computers were slow and video drivers were sometimes dodgy so there could temporarily be ugly artifacts while drawing on forms, updating complex grids etc. But, with modern computers I haven't had to do that for quite a while.

I don't recall .LockScreen ever slowing things down. In theory, it should actually speed things up a little by preventing some screen updates.
