There is the Old Testament, and the New Testament. BC, and AD. The Law, and Grace. The time before Pentecost, and the time since.

Jesus changed everything. He commands in Revelation 22:11, "Let him who does wrong continue to do wrong; let him who is vile continue to be vile; let him who does right continue to do right; and let him who is holy continue to be holy."

Jesus and His blood shed sacrifice at the cross, the innocent, eternal Lamb of God, this is what the entire daily sacrifice requirement the Jewish people were/are required to do under the Law of Moses was -- a foreshadowing of God's plan to save man over centuries. Why an animal sacrifice? Why bloodshed? It had nothing to do with animals, but with obedience, in trusting in God, and it had everything to do with God's plan of salvation in the Messiah, the Christ, the King of Heaven and Earth born as a baby in Bethlehem.

Jesus fulfilled the Law and changed everything. He put it to death in His body once and for all, and that along with Death, Hell, and the Grave. Because He is eternal, these things also are put away eternally. We are now under grace, but that does not give us license to sin. We are now under guidance to by holy, and that conviction comes from God Himself into our spirit (those who are born again, who have a conscience we can hear). It is God taking an active role in our lives. He is not "watching us from a distance" as the popular song says. He is involved intimately with every aspect of our days, protecting, guiding, working things out, that all those who will be saved will be saved. He is busy upon this task, to this very time, night and day, without rest, that those of His creation who will be manifest in eternity shall be saved.

The times have changed since Pentecost. We are no longer under the Law. God now commands we pursue the Spirit, not the flesh. We seek Him in spirit and truth. And the reality of that is, the Law is in agreement with God's Spirit, for the two came from one.

Read the Ephesians 6 armor of a Christian. It's all invisible to the eye:

(1) Belt of Truth.
(2) Breastplate of Righteousness.
(3) Helmet of Salvation.
(4) Shod with the preparation of the Gospel of Peace.
(5) Shield of Faith.
(6) Sword of the Spirit (The Word of God).
(7) Surrounded all about with Prayer and Supplication (asking God for help).

The things you've been taught about Christianity have been taught by an enemy who uses bits of truth in false ways to teach confusion and mislead, making God seem distasteful and wicked. He is lying about all of it to mislead people, to keep them from the truth that God is the most amazing, most astounding of anything in the universe. And He loves us. He loves me, you, all of us. And He's done everything Himself to put away Death, Hell and the grave, that none of us need go there. And it is only those people who are not willing to hear the truth that will never hear it, believing Satan's lies until it's too late.

Jesus saved us all. He fulfilled the plan put into motion before the foundations of the world. There is nothing left. Only our response to His free gift.
