>When would be visual FreePro out for users ?
My original planned release date for Version 1.0 (back in September, 2012) was mid-July, 2013. However, I didn't find anyone to help me with development. My revised release date was October, 2013. That's still doable, but I honestly don't know.
I am working on it as best I can. Here are my remaining tasks before the xbase portion begins being developed:
(1) BXML (binary XML) support, 90% completed as of June 24, 2013).
(2) Canvas drawing algorithms (80% completed as of June 24, 2013).
(3) Region processing algorithms (to handle key events, mouse events, 80% completed as of June 24, 2013).
(4) Virtual Machine implementation and debugging (30% completed as of June 24, 2013).
When 1-4 are completed, Visual FreePro will launch with a command window. Then I begin on adding xbase functionality and program support.
I estimate 1 through 4 will take me to the end of August at my current development pace. But that is a variable.
Once I get to the point of doing xbase development for Visual FreePro programming support, it will go very, very quickly. The hard part is building this foundation of the new virtual machine, and all of the generic supporting algorithms to allow it to operate identically on Windows, Linux, FreeBSD, and Android. And, as I say, my plan right now is for an end-of-August timeframe for that functionality to be coded, with support only for Windows, but with everything coded to allow easy migration to other operating systems.
I will put it this way: 2014 should be a big big year for Visual FreePro. 2013 will see a product, but it will not be a 1.0 release yet. Possibly up to 0.90.
If anyone wants to help me ... Send email ... :-)
