Here is how to do it (if you ever need to):
On the toolbar there is a button Element Source with Style (Ctrl-T). If you click on it the html and css source is displayed in a separate window. So you can actually output two different version to two different windows and compare them side-by-side. This helped me to determine what was causing the problem.
