Great point! and clarification on this one. I was gonna post this info as well, but got to busy. Many Baptist in the pews "think" they are protestants because frankly it's something that is usually not mentioned in the pulpit (and why would it if you think about it). I think most of this comes from the media as they lump all of Christianity as either Catholic or Protestans through their ignorance of the subject and history.

What you can see is mostly that Protestants have adapted beliefs from the Baptists and not vice versa. Of course there are some mixed groups but the Baptists did exist before the Reformation and were persecuted by Luther and Calvin during the Reformation. History is an interesting subject because there are things you can learn from and also understand why certain things have evolved to the present time.
