All the safety you enjoy in a managed environment like C# ... a few memory leaks here or there, a polite exception thrown, and that's about it. Not so in C++. The global heap, the stack ... it's all well within the errant program's reach. :-)

I always contended that if the OSes were written in something like Modula-2 we would be enjoying a much better world, and Oberon is a much cooler name than DOS :)
