Brenda ---

FYI: If you have code that needs to fire on SetFocus or LostFocus of a grid, put the Grid into an invisible container and put the required code in the Set/LostFocus events of the container....visually and programmatically, works fine.

>>Brenda, sorry to have bothered you but all I needed to do was SetFocus on the column rather than the control. FYI it didn't matter what column the button was in as it was always the first column that received the focus. The click code just called the other form (which just had a button on to exit) and then did This.Parent.Parent.ColumnN.textfield.SetFocus().

>Thanks for the update. Maybe it will stick - "do not set focus to the grid control, set focus to the column". Guess I have always been lucky and just setfocus to the column by chance.

>FYI - it is not a bother. At first i was timid about asking for help, especially when it turned out to be something simple or obvious. Just last week i asked "how can i find the dbf name of a table alias". I instantly got three responses that said "dbf()". Looking back, maybe it was obvious to someone, but not to me. Asking that question saved me alot of time. UT is a great tool, use it .
