>I recently finished quite a complex form containing several grids in a tabbed control on a window. What strikes me is just how much stuff is all built into WinDev which you dont have to program whereas in VFP you would. For example, here is a list of stuff that is built into WinDev Windows and Controls which do not require any programming from you at all (only setting options on/off as desired):
>
>Window - move by the click and hold on the window background
>Window - transparent areas
>Window - support for skins/themes
>Window - remember size and location
>Window - auto grey/dim if inaccessible
>>Window - open/close animations or none
>Window - copy or paste the form
>Window - drag and drop support
>
>Grid - Sort ascending / descending on any column (no programming or even creating indexes required)
>Grid - Search within a column
>Grid - Search the entire grid, all columns, with word highlighting
>Grid - Export a row, a column, a cell, entire grid to Excel, Word, PowerPoint, XML, PDF
>Grid - Copy a row, a column, a cell, entire grid to clipboard
>Grid - Print grid contents
>Grid - convert rows to display over several lines if too long to fit in column
>Grid - Remember column locations and sizes
>Grid - Restore default size, location and columns
>Grid - Filter on any column using like, not like, contains, does not contain, etc.
>Grid - Store the filter for future (like recently used list)
>
>Tab - Remember last used tab
>
>Radio buttons / Checkboxes / etc. - remember the last values used

>What this tells me is the only reason to move to WinDev is the web, mobile stuff that they support. Of course you have the IDE that allows you do design very nice forms. Dabo has something to design with but does not have all the bells and whistles that WinDev has.

To reduce all that I have written so far (in this post and in this thread) about what WinDev can do to a single sentence "What this tells me is the only reason to move to WinDev ..." (emphasis mine) really has missed the power of WinDev entirely.
