>>>>What a bunch of idiots. The potential for accidents and/or nuts on the staff makes this a very stupid move. The answer is NOT to arm everybody (sounds like Taliban country). Needless to say I would remove my kids from that school immediately.

>>>Well, we sure know who the bleeding hearts are now, don't we. Mike Bean and Joshua Berry and Bill Fitzgerald, Ben Franklin had you guys pegged from 200 years ago..

>>And we know who the ..... never mind.

>>If you think I am willing to hand over liberty for temporary safety you are not as smart as I thought. You sure don't know me. The defense of liberty does not require ceaseless aggression.

>Absolutely it does. If we stop defending liberty and give way to those pandering for security, we will lose. We have already lost a number of freedoms. I've always wanted to write a book entitled "Politics: The Incremental Destruction of America". It's like the old adage of boiling the frog. We have been subjected to incremental erosion of our freedoms since politics began.

"Liberty" and "Freedom" depend on where you sit.
Slave owners and slaves had different perceptions of what Freedom and Liberty meant and they were obviously irreconcilable.
My neighbor is free to walk his dog, but if it's a pit bull or a Doberman, I have the Freedom to demand that he keep the damned thing away from me.
The words "Private Property" imply a limit on the Freedoms of those who don't own the property.
One of the functions of government is to adjudicate these conflicts and each decision will inevitably be an erosion of someone's Freedom or Liberty.
King John probably went to his grave thinking the Magna Carta put England on the slippery path to Socialism because of the way it infringed on his rights which, after all, were divine!

His book would have been titled "The Magna Carta - The Destruction of Olde Englande."

So when I when I hear "Liberty" and "Freedom" I ask "Whose Liberty and whose Freedom?"
Anyone who does not go overboard- deserves to.
