>You weren't speaking to her but you were speaking about her. As she says in her reply to your message (not in these exact words), she has rabbit ears. I am not in Naomi good / John bad mode, sincerely, but I wish you would give her a break sometimes. What would it cost you to bite your tongue? She is a sensitive soul. More to the point, English is not her first language. She wants to get it right. Surely you can appreciate that. Does she ask questions too quickly at times? Maybe. But I suspect she tries to figure it on her own more often than you give her credit for. I know I would have a very hard time living and developing using a language so different from my own. Please give her a break. That's all I am suggesting.

>You know I have great respect for you as an ex-Marine, as well as being a software guru. I also know you are not necessarily pleased by my admiration. Well, I am anyway. I am very glad you guys are on our side. One of the best and most respected members of my AA group is an ex-Marine. He has been sober a long time now, decades. Sometimes he tells stories about things that happened in his young days when he was still drinking that would curl your hair. Even the other long time sobers pay attention to what he has to say. He came by his sobriety and his wisdom the hard way. He is one of the reasons I have not given up hope.

>This morning I signed up for another conference, ThatConference in Wisconsin Dells the week after next. It promotes itself as a geekfest . I know a little about some of the topics and nothing about the rest. I think there is one SQL session and of course zero FoxPro sessions. Which is fine. I have been trying for several years to transition to something new and keep running into the wall of lack of experience. I am keeping faith that sooner or later something has to stick to the wall. For more than one reason I am not ready to retire.

>>Wasnt' speaking to you.

It has nothing to do with language. She is very technically competent in SQL server, and would probably make a great DBA with some experience. As a programmer, she is in over her head. She cannot comprehend the basics of .Net, LinQ, Design Patterns, etc. She also asks the same things over and over and over.

BTW, I do bite my tongue more than you know. I give a flip for sensitivity. If she was truly that sensitive, she would take to heart the myriad suggestions for research, books and coding techniques that other have given her and not ask the same set of stupid questions over and over. Its like she either doesn't listen or is so fixated on her own thinking that suggestions pass through her brain like doo-doo through a goose. Like I said in other messages, she posts 100's of lines of incomprehensible spaghetti code and expects others to figure out what's wrong, won't listen to what others tell her, and won't learn and retain what she is told. I do not suffer well those who use others to accomplish their goals. I have struggled with some code for days, but I struggle through it and I'm better for it. I have far fewer sticking points today than I did 5 years ago.

I'm will be nice to people until they show me they are fixated on themselves. At that point, I will not consider sensibilities in my responses to people. It will be clear, point blank and if you can't handle it, oh well. Like my grandmother told me for years, if you don't want to hear the answer, don't ask the question.

P.S. I don't dislike you as a person, I dislike and cant understand some of your positions on things.
