Normally when I get a footprint to fix or enhance something, in addition to doing so, I would go through the code of that module and see what else may be optimized / improved. So, in many cases I would do this kind of extra work. There is a risk, of course, involved with doing so. But I can not just do one minor change and not check other surrounding code while doing it.
If it's not broken, fix it until it is.
