Unfortunately I have no VFP8 to try. What you can do (and it works in VFP9) is to change the file extensions of labels (lbx -> frx and lbt -> frt) and convert it to report, and there the Object dialog box you have to select Expression or variable name. You should also change the call LABEL FORM ... -> REPORT FORM ...
After you comment me if this works in VFP8.
