I did that once, for fun... with the media player ActiveX, but that was as long ago as player 6.4, when the GUI was still simple and the interface manageable. Nowadays, I'd look for something that's not coming from M$, as their approach to media is... I'm speechless (or would have to include a lot of unprintables).
