Yes, this is exactly how you are missing it. You have pre-conceived ideas that must be proven (one way or the other) before you will believe. You are not seeking the truth. You are seeking a concluding relationship to your pre-conceived ideas (be they proven correct or incorrect).

Come to God asking Him for guidance in your journey, believing He will guide you, and you will receive it. If you can understand that, then you're half way Home.
