The 8,1 start button doesn't really do anything but put a button on the screen - it doesn't bring back the start menu which is what most people complain about.

FWIW, I've never really understood the complaint - the start screen provides basically the same functionality as the start menu did so most of the complaints are merely along the 'don't move my cheese' variety...
