I read some stuff over the weekend that referred to "insiders" saying that Ballmer's support on the board was deteriorating. Today I was reading that that board has made it clear that the new CEO will continue on the current reorg and plan that they called OneMicrosoft. This says to me that someone inside the company probably will probably be named new CEO.
>I agree. To a large degree, I feel that Microsoft has lost the plot over the last decade or so, so someone new could get them back on course. But no one, not even Bill Gates, has more passion about Microsoft than Steve Ballmer. I can't see this being what he wanted. He probably wasn't forced out, but I doubt he was asked to stay either. Sure there were lots of failures and mistakes, but there's a good chance he will be somewhat vindicated and others will look back at these years of record profits with fondness.
