As mentioned in the caption under the table, the authors get that number from The CANADIAN CENTRE FOR JUSTICE STATISTICS, HOMICIDE IN CANADA,
JURISTAT, for the years 2001–2004.

Perhaps you feel the CCFJS has no marginal knowledge about international crime statistics but I would not be quite so harsh. ;)
