I doubt very much that future release of VFP or Office will bring on compatibility issues. Microsoft have all the advantage of getting their software more compatible with each other, not the inverse.

A field of variable length followed by label text will not be justified. But I'm having problems convincing my boss that providing a solution outside VFP (such as using Words' Mailmerge) is safe and won't be a compatibility issue in future releases of VFP or Office or VBA.
