>I am attempting to install SQL Server 2008 (not R2) Development Edition (that I purchased from MS a couple of years ago) on a new Windows 7 Professional. As soon as the SETUP starts I get the message that "This program has known compatibility issues" When I select to Check for solution online, none is found. What do you think is the matter with SQL Server 2008 Dev (which I run on another Windows 7 Prof)?

Right click on SETUP.EXE and "Run as administrator".
Ignore that message.
You may fail the first time, but you can install the SQL Server.
After the installation immediately install the latest SP.
