If you like QT, you'll love Lianja: QT is the second layer in Lianja (the Lianja framework which includes data access being the core). That's how native mobile will happen in Lianja, in fact.

>Of course you realize by including "Node.js" you are suggesting that you need a web backend. If you are looking for web backend and you are considering Python take a look at Django.

>Neither web backend IMO come close to matching how VFP worked. Therefore, the learning curve would high for both (although I would think Python might be easier).

For example running javascript on the Desktop is not main stream. On the other hand Python is now available for Windows, Linux, and Mac's. It's also available for Android, iOS (it's really a compiler which converts python to native code for the android and iOS).

>Can you run javascript on the Desktop - sure ( Webkit works well). And javascript is now moving to main stream for also everything I can think of. Even databases are opening up for javascript - Postgres has PLV8 which is a javascript language plugin (of course they have python too). I believe javascript will become a first class language very soon (if hasn't already).

>Now that I've said that - I don't like javascript even with all the frameworks etc.. I have my reasons which are based on the fact it takes a framework to get real oop working correctly (enyo, Angula, and others.)

>As for me I'm actually reviewing C++ (because of QT - QML). Wow and I just said I don't like javascript! QML is sort of a CSS and javascript, C++ combo. QT allows for cross platform for everything. The thing is QT - QML allows a programmer to write a program without ever writing one line of C++. The question is can I still do everything I have been doing with VFP and Python in an easy manner. Right now if I need to interface to a signature pad I just download a module. I doubt that's true for QT.
