>>If you like QT, you'll love Lianja: QT is the second layer in Lianja (the Lianja framework which includes data access being the core). That's how native mobile will happen in Lianja, in fact.

The xTuple programmers haven't been keeping pace with QT - it looks like they are about 2 years behind QT - using 4.x versions. But I was able to compile the latest postbooks source to QT 5.1 (the latest). I had to comment out a few sections that will need rewriting (due to dropped QT functions) and changed a lot of code functions that were deprecated. It took three days work but it's working. I bring it up because I am very interested the QT QML. QML is like javascript and CSS3 all wrapped together and can be used to develop QT programs without writing a single line of C++.

I can add QML to the xTuple source (I can even add python) to develop the code my customers need. This sounds great - I get all the benefits without C++.

Hi John,

there will be a ebookzine (monthly) with an annual compilation, and other educational stuff coming out with the V1.0 release of Lianja, or shortly thereafter. This is totally separate from Lianja, itself. They will be coming out with training classes.

But the best way is to download the beta, and start doing stuff with it. There are a number of VFP developers doing migrations, some of whom post questions on the forum.

I would not underestimate the complexities (e.g., having to proxy URLs) when building mobile apps. Lianja takes care of all these things for you, as well as the complexities of setting up an app server, etc. Not to mention data integration: you use data just as you would in VFP (not with a DBC, but directly into cursors which are bindable, etc.). And you get to code it in your choice of the 4 languages.

Hank
