One thing to keep in mind is the efforts by the republicans to prevent poor minorities (almost all of which are democrats) from voting. The spread might of been bigger if everyone who wanted to vote actually got to vote. This is an area that has been widely exaggerated by the left. Yes, I agree there have been instances of "gerrymandering" and other tactics - on both sides.
Because the media as a whole is more sympathetic to Obama, you hear more instances on the Republican side.
But this now becomes a rallying cry anytime the left loses on something ( e.g. Debbie Wasserman Schultz crying about voter suppression in the Colorado loss).
This also occurs on the Democratic side as well. Barack Obama should not have even been on the primary ballot in 2008 in Indiana, because of some high-ups in the state DNC who forged petition signatures in key districts in Indiana (and have been sentenced to prison). This is a game that both sides play.
