>>>It's a fake issue anyway and has only been in existence since 1917. And before someone starts throwing glasses in the stone houses, since 1991 the debt ceiling has been raised about 20 times with 3/4's of them occurring under Republican presidents.

>>>What do you mean by "It's a fake issue"?

>>It's an administrative gimmick that they can throw a fit about to pretend that they're tough on spending, instead of actually doing anything about the spending while it's happening.

>Exactly.

>"The Government Accountability Office explains, "the debt limit does not control or limit the ability of the federal government to run deficits or incur obligations. Rather, it is a limit on the ability to pay obligations already incurred." The apparent redundancy of the debt ceiling has led to suggestions that it should be abolished altogether."

The equivalent of maxing out your credit card, and then hollering when the bill comes. And then going on another shopping spree. And then throwing another hissy fit to show how serious you are about reducing spending.

It blows my mind how people were enamored with the Bamster's "core value" of change and anti-politics-as-usual vibe, but just shrug their shoulders when it is, indeed, politics as usual.

Same as when gay and lesbian's celebrate his support when they're nothing more than desired votes. Isn't that insulting?

And that lack of introspection when declaring that Mitt Romney would surely lead us to war!

People suck.
