As a die hard Windows supported, I'd however go for the ipad4 or 5.
I've got an ipad2, my brother the iPad4. The latter retina screen is just awesome.
I don't need a tablet as a windows desktop replacement. My Samsung ultrabook does a much better job than any windows based tablet. Hi, thanks...and that's a good point, the new screen is stunning.
These are personal devices, and everyone's personal habits with electronic devices will differ.
Actually, for the few times when I'm in my family room and want to access my desktop, I use one of the good iPad remoting apps to access my desktop. Works quite well. Once I learned I could rip my favorite DVD movies (ones that aren't on Netflix) and watch them on my iPad, it became a better version of my older portable DVD player that only had a 5" screen and only 2-3 hours of battery life.
I've looked at ultrabooks for years now and for some reason, just can't see myself using one.
