I once had a supervisor (best one I've ever had) where "40 hours" was his mantra. The ONLY time he would allow me to work overtime was at a training/brainstorming session with the users. There were about 40 people attending the session and we were frequently able to incorporate their ideas and suggestions into the product overnight.

Other than that NO OVERTIME (and I'm pretty sure he had budget for it). For what it's worth............he was retired military (Army Finance officer)
