>>>naturally London is in a fever of anticipation about Pittsburg Steelers and Minnesota Vikings. You can hardly move for people going about their normal business with no interest in this game whatsoever.

>>I don't think American football will catch on in UK for some of the same reasons your football does so poorly here (aside from it being booring :-) There is not feeder system from universities. Even in US where soccer is ubiquitous in schools, there really isn't much men's college soccer anyone cares about and anyone really good would probably be better served by playing for a European club.

>>How common is it in UK to put 100,000 in a stadium for a rugby or football match? (regular season, non-championship) ? I know comparisons are difficult as you have both national and club matches and I'm sure the number of games in season effects numbers as well. I know the big matches and cup matches are well attended but on a regular basis what would be considered a full house for most football?

How many regular season games in Premier League in a season?

Rugby fascinates me. That game could catch on here if we weren't such a litigious society and insurance wouldn't be an issue. Soccer will always be seen here as a great game to play, a good thing to channel you son into so he doesn't get hurt in football or your daughter in hopes she'll do that instead of getting pregnant, but as a spectator sport I'm afraid there is no hope. Baseball is pretty much dying here as well, compared to its former lofty "National passtime" status. ( I think it sounded more exciting on the radio ) Football, basktball and the up and comer - MMA

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
