That may have helped, but I thought the last race summarized the latter part of the series in a nutshell. In it the NZ team made no discernible tactical errors. Yes, they "switched" to different tacks from Oracle after some of the marks but they were already behind at that point and had to try something different to regain the lead.

From what I saw the biggest difference at the end was the Oracle boat was a lot faster upwind, in some cases up to 5 knots. In not much more than a week Oracle improved their boat speed a lot, from uncompetitive to superior.
