I don't think I ever watched enough of a basketball game to even get a subjective view of the pace.

How about cricket? A test match might be 5 days with 6hrs play each day (90 overs/day). But it's unfair to compare pace with any of the previous. Somewhere between watching a soccer match and a round-the-world boat race.
