Are you serious? The Affordable Care Act was signed in 2009. Voters had time to consider it, including the various assertions and Court challenges, and then they voted Obama in again... despite confident predictions, including in UT, that there would be a landslide against the "Messiah."
Obama is 100% correct: the opposition in a republic or democracy does not get to use government shutdown as a weapon to "negotiate" legislation years after it was signed and after voters exercised their right to have more of the same. Last time the Republicans did this they took a spanking in the next elections, so guess what.
