>>>>>If the libs don't want to negotiate, then its time to mess with it...

>>>Are you serious? The Affordable Care Act was signed in 2009. Voters had time to consider it, including the various assertions and Court challenges, and then they voted Obama in again... despite confident predictions, including in UT, that there would be a landslide against the "Messiah."
>>>
>>>Obama is 100% correct: the opposition in a republic or democracy does not get to use government shutdown as a weapon to "negotiate" legislation years after it was signed and after voters exercised their right to have more of the same. Last time the Republicans did this they took a spanking in the next elections, so guess what.
>>
>>Picking a nit: The PPACA was signed into law in March of 2010, following a special election where it was THE issue and Scott Brown won.
>>
>>It was followed by the midterms where it was again THE issue and the Republicans took over the House with a historical change change of seats.
>>
>>Obama was re-elected and so was the Republican House. You are correct, the voters have excercized their right to have more of the same, which is exactly what we have.

>Scott Brown? He is a lightweight who was was elected from Massachusetts to replace Ted Kennedy and was not behind this at all.

I should've been more clear in my response. This is why I typically respond inline and highlight. My apologies.

I was responding to Voters had time to consider it, including the various assertions and Court challenges, and then they voted Obama in again. and
after voters exercised their right to have more of the same

The special election that saw Brown elected was a single issue election in the midst of the PPACA legislation. His campaign was simple : "I'll be the 41st vote, not the 60th vote". The very first time the voters had a chance they rejeceted the PPACA. The next time they made their displeasure even more clear by ushering the largest party seat swing in the House since the midterms after FDR tried to pack the Supreme Court.

While the PPACA was a big issue 2012, that was far from a single issue election.
