>As far as the cost - how many have checked what their rates will be? Mine is dropping in 1/2. My older sister is going to get hers for $550 A MONTH less.

>Just curious - are you going through the exchanges? What kind of coverage are you and your sister getting? Is it the same coverage you have with your current plan?

Yep - though the exchanges, and same coverage. I know as far as my older goes - back in the early 1980's she had cancer - had to have kidney removed and did the whole chemo thing - so I assume that's why her rates are so high. Don't know why mine or so much less...just lucky I guess?

>FWIW, our rates are going up 7%, but we have locked in to our current plan by renewing in December because under the ACA, current plans are grandfathered in for a year. The reason we did this is that our current plan ($1000 deductible each with everything covered at 100% after that) will most like not be available once the ACA is fully implemented..

>So the idea that "If you like your plan, you can keep it" is nonsense.

I know my sister's plan was going to go up about that much too if she kept it. It will be interesting to see how it all works out over the next couple of years - hopefully with more people in their 20's getting insurance it can keep the costs down - of course the evil corps will just pocket the money - not like savings will be passed on to us..ha
