>The incomparable Joni. Another great line was "They tore down paradise and put up a parking lot." She was also nice enough to show us her bare butt inside one or her albums, "Blue" I think.

Joni may have covered it but wasn't the original Judy Collins (on "Both Sides Now") ? (In fairness, you were 10 or 11 when it was popular <g> )

and the line from Big Yellow Taxi is (i think) "they pave paradise, and put up a parking lot" (also love "they take all the trees and put em in a tree museum, and charge all the people a dollar and half just to see 'um")

(a lot of what Judy Collins sang was written by Leonard Cohen - I think a cover of Suzanne is on that same album - but Clouds doesn't sound like LC )

Don't it always seem to go, that you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone ?

Charles Hankey

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
