Like I said to Dmitry, I never prepared any list of the kind. And then there must be hundreds of them that I don't even know about. A tentative approach would be to pick the best ones from festivals (Cannes, Berlin etc - and I don't mean just Europe). Or, names off the stack, at random: Wong Kar Wai, Akira Kurosawa, Kriszto Kieszłowsky, Fellini, Von Trier, Tarkovsky (Тарковский), Miloš Forman, Emir Kusturica, Andrzej Wajda, Jean-Luc Goddard...
