>"The Mission" is really good. I am surprised that you are the only one mentioning a Spielberg movie (Riders of the Lost Ark), nobody mentioned Jaws or E.T. or, as someone else put it, Spielberg.* :)

Yeah, I just figured Raiders was the iconic Spielberg.

There was a TV series Young Indiana Jones he backed that was really brilliant and is the top of my list to recommend to younger people. On Netflix now I think

Of course The Mission reminds me of Fitzcaraldo and that reminds me of Aguirre Wrath of God ...

(and later Herzog made Little Dieter Needs to Fly which had a special meaning for me as I had a somewhat intertwined history with Dieter Dengler ... )

Charles Hankey

- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin
