Start watching the PNG (Portable Network Graphics) format. It was developed specifically to get away from the LZW patent and the Unisys/Compuserve stupidity. Their website is http://www.cdrom.com/pub/png/. IE4.01 only seems to marginally support PNG, Netscape 4.0 does fine on the sample image pages on the above link.


>Yeah, I know that what you mean. I mainly use bitmaps and icons in apps and jpgs and gifs (uh-oh) in web pages. I'm not real worried about it, but I thought it was interesting and I WILL be careful in the future.
