>Oregon was less than stellar yesterday. It will be interesting to see how the first BCS rankings shake out today.

>Not sure I understand what you mean. They certainly weren't perfect - they turned the ball over twice late in the 2nd quarter, which allowed Washington State to close within 10 at the half. But then Oregon's defense picked off Halliday several times in the 2nd half. Oregon poured it on in the second half and made it 62-24 and then pulled most of their starters before the Cougars got 2 late TDs in the last 5 minutes when the game was already decided.

>Oregon is still playing without D'Anthony Thomas, and is still racking up hundreds of yards on the ground. If Marcus Mariotta stays healthy, I think he has a great chance for the Heisman.

>I doubt there will be much difference in the top 5 between what you see in the BCS and the current coaches poll. There might be some changes in 6-10, as I think Missouri might move up a notch.

>Bottom line, if Alabama runs the table (likely) and if Oregon runs the table (hopefully....they still have UCLA and Stanford and then the Civil War game), they'll finally meet for the title....and I would give my right arm to see Nick Sabin lose.

Thanks for the details about the Oregon game. I didn't know the specifics, just saw the final score.

The Tribune runs a "Heisman watch" every week of 5 players they consider the leading contenders. Mariotta is definitely in there.
