>For a major deployment, we have a task to do a major synchronization of content from various directories into a new set of share drives. But, this is not something we can do during the deployment as the quantity of files is enormous. A few days before the deployment, we need to find the best tool and approach to use to start live synchronization between the soon to be removed current live environment into the soon to be used new environment. Anyone has done something like that for a deployment?

>We know that for SQL Server, the enabling of log shipping will be enable a few days before. So, by the time we deploy, our database will be in sync. But, the problem remains at the content of directories. There has to be a tool that is reliable to achieve that task so we can enable that several days before we deploy and also have the new environment to be synchronized up to the second with whatever changes in the actual environment so we wouldn't have to worry about that part during the time we will deploy.

In a quick search I found http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=15155 . I haven't used it.

RoboCopy has a /MON option - I haven't used that either: http://burpee.smccme.edu/studenthowtos/robocopy.htm
