Depends, to some extent on what your time is worth.
Suppose some new 6GB box costs $1,000, and that your time is worth $100/hr.
If that computer saves you 10 hours of time (compared to your existing one) over its service life, it's paid for itself.
If you want a 1 year payback, it would have to save you about 1.6 minutes/day.
