You are referring to Jay Carney, the White House press secretary, aren't you?

Carney is the guy who said that the IRS issue was nothing more than rogue agents in Cincinnati (which they knew wasn't true), that a video triggered Benghazi (and as it turns out, EVERYTHING Mitt Romney said on the day of the attack was correct), that Eric Holder hadn't gone to 3 federal judges to try to get a search warrant on James Rosen, and that sequestration didn't originate with the administration. There have certainly been more, but those are four critical issues where Carney's statements were 100% blatantly false.

I've read that some of Carney's friends have advised him to resign. Carney was a respected journalist before working as a Press Sec. Many feel that his constant spinning and defending the indefensible are going to harm his career in the long run. To a degree, that's probably true. Tony Snow and Dana Perino had to deal with some very rough situations, but Carney seems more comparatively in over his head.

I have no idea what the White House said to these insurance execs. But I take the fact that Anderson Cooper even mentioned it with a bit more weight than I take Jay Carney's reply.
